Missions

Make a difference in this world by putting your faith into action!  We have a variety of ways that you can touch the lives of those in need.

Food for Grand Prairie Food & Clothing Co-op -  Please bring canned goods, peanut butter, jelly, laundry detergent, pastas, etc. to the collection bins, which are located in the Commons by the bistro tables.  We designate the first Sunday of the month for collection, however, you can bring your donations for this important ministry any day of the week.

Youth Mission Trip – This summer our youth worked in south Dallas, providing a unique Vacation Bible School opportunity to children.  In year’s past, our youth have made personal mobility carts for children in third world countries, repaired churches, and participated in hurricane relief efforts.  Watch this page for the 2012 youth mission trip information.

Adult Mission Trip – In June 2011, we went to SEEK Camp, an camp for adults with special needs, and we served as counselors for those, who may have never had a “church camp experience.”  The event was life-changing to the members, who gave of their time.  Watch this page for more information about our adult mission trip for 2012.

Serving Meals at The Bridge – Members of The Woods serve meals on a quarterly basis at The Bridge Homeless Shelter in downtown Dallas.  If you are interested, more information in located on the wall in the adult education wing.

Pumpkin Patch – In October, we host a huge pumpkin patch on the church lawn.  All proceeds go to support missions, such as the Grand Prairie Food and Clothing Co-op, Imagine No Malaria, and the Youth Mission Trip.

Bowl-a-thon – In July 2011, we hosted our first Bowl-a-thon with proceeds going toward the adoption of a local elementary school.  We will help to provide eyeglasses, coats, and other necessary items for children in need.
